La public history italiana si fa strada: un museo a Predappio per narrare la storia del ventennio fascista

La storiografia sul fascismo e sulle sue interpretazioni ha talvolta scatenato vivaci discussioni nella comunità, spesso sonnolente, degli storici accademici. Tuttavia, fare la storia del fascismo fuori dai libri accademici e confrontarsi con opposte memorie rimane un impresa ancora da compiere. Forse è per questo motivo che l’eventualità di aprire un Museo che tratti la storia del Fascismo a Predappio, in Romagna, nella ex Casa del Fascio e dell’Ospitalità, sta suscitando un forte dibattito pubblico limitato, per il momento, all’Italia.

Public History International. Beyond school? Comparative Perspectives (#phi2015) aims to explore and understand the ambiguous relationship between public history and history teaching from a variety of perspectives in a comparative way. In addition, the core authors of the Public History Weekly journal from all over the world will gather in Basel to introduce themselves in person to their readers.

DPH: bringing the public back in

Digital History has reshaped the documentation methods of historians, especially their means of accessing and storing history. However, this seismic shift has occurred without any thorough critical discussion of these digital tools and practices. Digital history aims to create new forms of scholarship and new digital objects for the web.[1] But we need to ask in which ways—if any—Digital Public History (DPH) is distinct from an innovative digital history?
